There are basically two types of cycling shoes that are appropriate for indoor cycling. One are the sneaker-type shoes and others are the Mountain bike shoes with integrated spd cleats! What are cleats? The little metal things that attach your shoes to the pedals. What do we mean with integrated? This is a shoe which makes sure that the metal cleat does not stick out of the shoe bottom, which makes walking indoor particularly difficult and dangerous, especially while taking the stairs.

So if you never ride outside or if you are an instructor, we highly recommend one of the sneaker types! For people doing a bit of riding indoor and outdoor, the more leather typed shoes (with straps) and integrated cleats will do the trick! People who have their feet get numb /sleepy we recommend taking the mountain bike types which have harder soles.

These are shoes used mainly for outdoor cycling and are more water-resistant than the sneaker indoor cycling shoes. Most of these can however also be used for indoor cycling (careful to have integrated cleats). The advantage of this type of shoe is that the sole is often stiffer than the indoor cycling shoes. So very good for people with sensitive feet!

The main difference between mountain bike shoes and road bike shoes is the cleat. Mountain bike shoes are equipped with SPD cleats (small) whereas road bike shoes hold bigger cleats (mainly spd-sl or look,etc…)

These are mainly stiff soled shoes that are used only on a road/race bike. It has big cleats (spd-sl, look, etc). Price variation lie in lightness of the shoe (carbon) flexibility of the soles. Be careful, these shoes CANNOT be used for indoor cycling!
